2 kg Pork Shoulder with bone in
2 Brown Onions
3 Cloves Garlic
1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon Chilli Powder
1 Tablespoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Cumin
500ml – 1000ml | 2-4 Cups Chicken Stock
250ml – 500ml | 1-2 Cups BBQ Sauce


Peel and slice the onions and place into a slow cooker. Crush and peel the garlic and add to the onions. In a small bowl mix together the brown sugar, chilli powder, cumin and salt. Press the rub into the pork, turning the pork to coat it evenly. Place the pork into the slow cooker with the onions and garlic. Using either stock or water pour it into the slow cooker until the liquid comes at least a third to half of the way up the pork. Place on the lid and turn the slow cooker to low. Cook for 8-10 hours. Once the pork has cooked for 8-10 hours remove it from the slow cooker and place onto a chopping board. Using two forks start to pull the pork apart. It should pull apart easily. Place the pulled pork into a oven dish and pour over the BBQ sauce. Use a spoon to mix the sauce and pork together until everything is evenly coated. Place the pork into the oven for about 10-15 minutes or until heated through. Serve the pork on buns topped with coleslaw.
