Leftover Sweetened Condensed Milk Recipes

There is often half a can of sweetened condensed milk leftover after baking, having made a recipe that only needed half the can. It would be much easier if they were actually available to buy in half the size but I haven’t been able to find that!

When you have half a can leftover you have three options.

1 – Double the recipe you are making

2 – Place it into the fridge or freezer to keep for another time

3 – Make another recipe that also uses half a can of sweetened condensed milk

Here are a few of my favourite recipes that use half a tin of sweetened condensed milk.

Lolly Cake

No Bake Passionfruit Slice

What is Sweetened Condensed Milk?

Sweetened Condensed Milk is cows milk which has been cooked down to remove a lot of the water content and sugar added to sweeten it. This leaves a thick sweet mixture that is used in many slices, cheesecakes and truffles.

How to Store Sweetened Condensed Milk

Fridge

Sweetened Condensed Milk can last in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Transfer the leftover into an airtight container and place it into the fridge until you are ready to use it.

Make sure to check the instructions on the back of the can for storage guidelines.

Freezer

Sweetened Condensed Milk can be frozen for up to 6 months. Make sure it is in an airtight container.

The high sugar content means in freezes and defrosts easily without separating like evaporated milk would.
