How do you measure out a cup of butter using a cup measurement? Melt it, fill the cup and wait for it to set before using? Or push it into the cup, making sure it’s packed in there as tight as possible? Seems to difficult either way!
Salted vs Unsalted Butter
Unsalted butter contains no salt whereas salted butter contains about 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per 100g. Different brands of butter will contain different levels.
When baking, unsalted butter is usually called for as salt is added separately to the recipe. There is no rule saying salted butter cannot be used so I always use what I have on hand!
