Chinese Beef and Broccoli

Beef and Broccoli is a popular Chinese dish and here is my take on it. Tender slices of beef with crisp broccoli in a savoury garlic sauce.

– Steak – Sugar – Corn starch – Soy sauce – Broccoli – Cooking oil

Ingredients

Slice the beef across the grain into thin strips and place into a clean bowl.

1

Toss the beef to coat in the sauce and leave at room temperature to marinate for 30 mins. When you are ready to cook cut the broccoli up into bite sized florets.

2

Heat a wok or high sided fry pan over high heat with a tablespoon of cooking oil. When the pan is hot add the marinated beef and stir fry for a few minutes until the beef has developed some colour.

3

Remove the beef and place into a clean bowl. Turn the heat down and add a small amount more oil to the wok if necessary and pour in the broccoli florets.

4

Stir fry over medium heat until tender, about 4-5 minutes. While the broccoli is cooking prepare the sauce.
